Hooray for Graduation

Hooray for Graduation Day! My middle child of "my 3 sons" (do I hear music...almost sounds like a TV show), just graduated from St. John's High School and is off to college in Pennsylvania this fall. Congrats.!

It's finally finished my knitted and felted brown lunch bag. The pattern is from winter Knitty. I attached a magnetic clasp on inside, as well as a small pewter buckle on the front for an ornamental look only.

What's New?

What's up? lots! so very sadly not as much time to knit these days. so have decided a good way to gain some "time" is by knitting a wall clock, and it actually works....

love the old buttons for numbers around the clock....

I also knitted my first ever dishcloth to give to my mom, who evidently needs one....it's yellow, which is the color the monthly dishcloth forum http://groups.yahoo.com/group/monthlydishcloths/ said we should make for May. can't put up this post until mom receives this....hope she likes it and that it doesn't fly away....
not much to show, but am almost done some sparkly socks and am working on an interesting lace work vest, or jacket, not sure which way I'm leading towards yet. it will probably be a weather thing, if it stays warm, will be a vest...

And of course...Time Square....

worked on socks,
but no completed projects from our trip...

finished before the trip, my new Blue Lace head scarf with I-cord tie -used Blue Sky Alpaca yarn.

Oops...off to NYC
Just remembered won't be able to do a new post next weekend as I am off to New York City, hooray....with friends...plays, food, and Soho, plus yarn stores...yum...

so since I can't be over in England, (United Kingdom) to be part of the Knitted Garden, if you haven't heard of it, do a seach, the photos are unbelievable and now they are creating a Knitted Picnic....so here is some of my own contributions...

Knitted garden tool with my new coffee plant I purchased at the New England Flower Show, and it is still alive...now that's a surprise... suppose to be able to actually harvest coffee beans from this plant...yah sure...but it's green, so that's a start

This is a small photo from the Knitted Garden in the UK, isn't it awesome!

This is my blue morpho butterfly and a red ladybug on a knitted green leaf.

Bumblebee on knitted purple flower and caterpillar on leaf

hopefully will get some great NYC photos, not sure how much knitting will get done...

Post Easter

Easter has come and gone so quickly, but wasn't Easter without the trifle, so finally got a photo of the classic every Easter and every Thankgiving Heath Bar, Devil's Food Cake, Chocolate pudding, and coolwhip trifle.... see photo

Yes! finally have some yarn and loads of great projects in the works....more socks, sweater, etc.
Oh what to do first...
Finished my felted knitted lunch bag, and am on the hunt for just the right clasp. will try to include before and after felting photos. (Say that 3 times in a row)...felting photos, felting photos, felting photos.....
cheeseburger was a big hit, came out really good, but not sure how many points this version would be...wouldn't yarn be considered part of a fiber diet...

more food to come as I need to pack a lunch in my new lunch bag....
also included in this post is my knitted strawberries, as I can't knit just junk food, gotta have some healthy knitting too.
Stormy weather coming Monday so should have extra knitting time....Yeah...

Sox Fever

Friday April 6, 2007
milder weather brings sox fever....first pitch and now I am knitting socks, I can see what all the hype is about...
especially that self-patterning yarn, so cool....
My first sock was a spa sock, yarn very soft and comfy.....love the color too.

The other sock which was knit from yarn I had leftover from another project, is Lion Brand self-striping, and I used a twisty rib stitch at the top. It was from the Knitting Calendar Pattern a Day.
And of course I am now working on Sock # 3, as I too have SOX fever....
to be continued....
my next post should be food though.....
currently knitting lettuce of all things...so that should make for an interesting photo op.

Spring Time at last

April 1, 2007....Hooray....it's finally Spring!
My bulbs are up outside, and the purple
flowers are blooming. So here is my new
knitted watering can just in time for Spring.
Now I guess I'd better knit up some flowers
to water................

My latest project is now socks, I have finally
made my first pair, and so addicting, made a
second pair, and have started a third, I can
see why everyone else is doing the sock
craze...it is way too much fun.........

Pictures on next post...

This is Shy Guy. I think he is a character from Mario, a Nintendo game. My son gave me a photo and said to try and recreate it...fairly good likeness. He is a pretty photogenic little stuffed knit guy.

This is Tic-Toc, a usually not so
photogenic kitty

March 29, 2007 First Post (Blog) Ever!!!

Day 1: first blog and having a horrible time figuring out how to get pictures, etc. maybe there is a class somewhere on blogging....well bear with me, this could be a slow process.
Alrighty....here goes... a felted bowl with needle felted sheep adapted from the Book, One Skein

Sigh....hoping I can figure out more of this for my next (hopefully longer) entry!
