Gryffindor is My House

Today's hat is the Harry Potter House hat for the Gryffindor House.
Which if I could choose my wizarding house, would be my first choice.

Yarn used was Plymouth Encore worsted weight...less than one skein each in
Burnt Sienna and Butternut colorways.

I found the free pattern online here:
http://media.wiley.com/product_ancillary/14/04700673/DOWNLOAD/0470067314.pdf

but I believe it's the very same pattern in the book Charmed Knits by
Alison Hansel
This hat did go to charity.

Today's blog peek and review is about woollywormhead aka Ruth
and can be found here:
http://woollywormhead.blogspot.com/

I was poking around in the blogosphere and found several interesting ones,
and in particular came across this link.
I have many of Woolly (name she prefers to be known by)
patterns for HATS queued up on Ravelry so knew she was an innovative
and prolific designer already...
but I had absolutely no idea that she had no one home base
but instead spent her life
~travelling~
around in a self-built house bus. I cannot even imagine yarn storage in this case.
She writes in her bio that she is a sheep whisperer. also cool, very cool.
This indeed is a blog to check out in more detail!

~and for those of you emailing me to write up pattern for Harry, as I am
all hat obsessed, it will not be happening in 2008, as I virtually will
have to reknit him from scratch.

"...Twas the Night Before Christmas When All Through The House Not a Creature Was Stirring Not Even A Mouse...."

However, actually the mouse was kind of... sort of
stirring, or at least you could clearly hear
the click click of knitting needles...and what...
you mean you yourself aren't right now still frantically
finishing up
last minute knitting gifts for family and
friends right this minute as you are reading this blog....
well mouse and I are at it. maybe it's just me,
but I've never frogged my knitting so much
as I have these last two weeks, am I alone on this one...?

Knitting Notes: this particular mouse pattern is by
Alan Dart from Woman's Weekly Magazine sold only in Great Britain,
October 06 issue. He and his fellow mouse friends
are an addition to the Dickinson Mice that are available
as a brochure, which can be found more easily. Background
is the florist shop, shown in earlier blogs, now decorated
for Christmas, and yes as it has snowed for real in my neck
of the woods...then of course, it has also snowed at my florist
shop as well, I did leave them a very tiny (to scale) shovel,
which I hope the miniature people take a hint, as it is piling up.
as for what's on my needles, since it's xmas gifts,
I can't post them here,
silly... as people would not be surprised...
and as for what's on the mouse's needles, he claims
it is something for me, however, not sure if that will ever fit...
hmmmm.

HATS R US....charity knitting

News, news, news..............I am finally on Ravelry, and is it worth the wait.
If you are not on the list/bus get on it.
By the way, those of you on Ravelry, I am of course Sheepish1

Can't you see how excited I am, I can't stop jumping up and down...........Yeehah............

anyway what's new, lots...........but will just post a few photos, as that is enough for one reader.

Knitting for Charity mostly, and as my favorite thing to knit is hats, that is what it's all about.

First hat is made with Paton's pink yarn, knitted loosely, pattern is a freebie, anyone interested, just email me....I'll send you the site I got it from. I am not that good at computer's yet, i.e. how to paste on the forwarding site. anyone reading this, feel free to let me know how to do that.............
anyway, their pattern for the hat is just knit, then felted....I added some embellishments of my own.
this is my favorite hat to date.

Hat #2 is from Creature Comforts by Amy Bahrt
I used Plymouth Encore yarn for this and the next couple.
The pink hat with flower was actually cream, dyed pink after being knit,
then I picked up the stitches
again after the yarn was dried and finished up the top.

Hat #3, I think is a Magknits pattern, but if interested will double check that.

Hat #4 is also from same book as the little car hat above. It's actually the cover
photo. It's funny shape is due to the fact it's still being blocked.
I usually wash them all when done and block them on a stryrofoam ball, as no
child has offered up wearing a wet hat till dry, and the ball actually gives the hats a really
nice shape.

Hat #5 not pictured, is still not embellished, so looks rather plainish. Not sure if
that's English....
Hat #6 Pending, as on the needles, may be the new favorite.
Am still working on the knitted quilt, photos when further along.
and completely addicted to Podcasts and Ravelry of course.....
